Lifting local government productivity – the challenges

The Productivity Commission is undertaking an inquiry into funding and financing arrangements for authorities.

In their draft report the Commission found that Councils need new tools to deal with specific cost pressures. Roading and transport are a major area of local government expenditure; Murray will share with you emerging thoughts on the final recommendations to the Government and what this means for setting priorities and decision making.

Item 6 2.45pm Young Transport Professional Framework

This presentation is about Neha’s work on monitoring Smart Motorway during the morning peak hours. Smart motorway involved monitoring of a stretch of section on State Highway 1 and State Highway 2 in wellington between Terrace Tunnel and Johnsonville, and Terrace Tunnel and Petone. Neha’s involvement was around the area of selecting the right plan for the right condition on the road. Each plan dictated the recommended speed for each speed gantry on the monitored SH1 and SH2.
