Waikato District Policy
In December 2005, Kay Clarke of the Waikato District Council presented the Council's policies to have no stock crossings at-grade by 2015. The Council will issue no new permits for at-grade crossing, and will subsidise 25% of the costs of underpasses replacing existing crossings.
The decision followed an extensive consultation process, with one staff member dedicated to the process.
This work of the Council is feeding directly back into the review of the draft national Guidelines for Stock Crossing.
