Resource Management Guidelines
The Resource Management Guidelines for Local Authorities are designed to assist regional and territorial authorities to:
- Decide whether there is a problem with stock effluent spillage from trucks in their region or district
- Determine appropriate courses of action to minimise such spillages.
The Guidelines were developed by policy and planning representatives from regional councils, territorial authorities, Transit New Zealand and Federated Farmers, and released in 2003. The document sets the issues within the context of the Resource Management Act 1991, and recommends procedures and processes to deal with the effective disposal of effluent from stock trucks into designated facilities. Incidental spillage of effluent on to roads is covered by the Industry Code of Practice.
