Research Report No 315
NZTA (formerly Land Transport New Zealand) Research Report no 315, Identifying Sensitive Receiving Environments at Risk from Road Runoff, was published in April 2007.
The purpose of this project was to develop and validate a GIS-based tool for identifying and ranking sensitive receiving environments (SREs) at risk from road runoff. This should assist in prioritising sections of the road network that may require installation or upgrade of treatment systems for road runoff.
The SRE screening tool is based on the source - pathway - receptor model. A key assumption in the research is that the particulate fraction of the contaminant load is the appropriate point of focus.
